Boy, it has been a long time since I blogged! My sister got tired of seeing me not update my blog and did a "guest post" the last time. I have gotten back into the swing of working and things are going fine in the new job with the old company... but boy do I miss Josh during the day! I must drive my coworkers crazy between all the pictures of him on my desk and all I talk about is things that he did! Josh turned 18 months old this week and went for his 18 month checkup at the Doctor yesterday. He weighs a wopping 23 pounds and is 32 inches tall!

Josh's First Trip to Disney

We had a wonderful visit with Josh, Jodi and Mom. Josh enjoyed his first trip to Disney and Uncle Patrick and I (Aunt Jill) really enjoyed being with Josh. As you can see in the first picture Josh is already having career aspirations!Unfortunately, their trip was cut short as Jonah(one of David & Heather's twins) was hospitalized and they left a couple of days early to be with Jonah, Noah, David and Heather. The good news is Jonah is doing better and was released from the hospital on Tuesday. Please keep Jonah and the family in your thoughts and prayers. We love you Josh and miss you already. Uncle Patrick still wants to know when you can go on the plane yourself to come and see us!!

We had a fun weekend! Saturday we went to Burlington, Ontario to a party at Barry's friend Daryl and his fiance Donna's house and on Sunday we went to the Zoo with Grammy and Poppy.

The last week has been a whirlwind of activity in our family. My twin sister Jill and her boyfriend Patrick came to visit from Florida and their visit was much too short! We enjoyed the 4th of July at my parents house and Josh loved the fireworks! We also spent quite a few days at Anna's pool swimming and also at the Buffalo Launch Club for my cousin Brian's Graduation party.

Jill and Pat went home yesterday morning and we miss them already!

Barry's sister Sandy came over on Saturday for a little visit. She's lives outside of Guelph, Ontario. Josh was quite entertaining and kept her smiling. Later, he tired himself out and sat down on the couch next to Daddy and cuddled with Daddy and went to sleep!

Grammy and Poppy bought Josh a playhouse, so tonight we went over to their house to get it and ended up spending the evening there ... helping Poppy mulch the backyard and getting very dirty playing in the flower beds and playing with Lexi.

Barry ran in his first half marathon (13.1 miles) today and did great! There were about 3,000 runners and he finished 18th in his age group and 325th overall! I am so proud of him!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day today. My son and Hubby bought me roses and we had a nice brunch at the Buffalo Launch Club. We also visited my Grandma's grave.

Today was a very sad day for our family. We had to have our cat, Blacky, put to sleep since she was suffering from kidney failure. Barry found her as a stray about 13 years ago. She was a funny, inquisitive, sweet cat and she will be sadly missed by our family.

I took this picture of Josh and Barry last weekend when we took a drive to Wilson. Josh was sick all this past weekend. He caught a virus from his cousin Noah and spiked a fever of 103.9. I called Dr. Beney and he had us bring him into his office on Saturday even though he doesn't have office hours on the weekends. Grammy and Poppy came over yesterday to see Josh and bearing gifts. Josh especially loved the new Little Tykes Basketball net!

We had a wonderful vacation visiting Aunt Jill and Uncle Patrick. We went to either the pool or beach every day. Josh loved the pool but wasn't too crazy about the beach this trip. He went in the Gulf but was not happy at all about the sand... which is too bad because Mommy loves the beach. Now the countdown begins until Josh's birthday which is 1 week from today!!!!!!!!!! It is hard to believe how time has flown.

Being unemployed has made me question what I really want in life... I used to think that I wanted to be a "career woman" but having Josh in my life makes me realize that isn't important. I am enjoying the time with my son so much that I wish that I could be a stay at home Mom until he goes to school, but the reality is that we can't afford for me to stay at home. My job search has not yet been successful and the jobs in the Customs industry locally at my level are not in abundance... which is starting to make me depressed. So barring winning the lottery or finding a benefactor I really have to start looking for a job outside of my field.

It sure has been an eventful couple of weeks! Congratulations to Teri on her new daughter Ellie and Sue on her new son Cullen!

I am thoroughly enjoying being a SAHM for the time being while searching for a job although Josh, Barry and I have picked up some kind of bug. Josh seems to be feeling better but Barry and I are still feeling under the weather. I am really looking forward to going to Florida at the end of the month to visit my twin sister Jill.

My big boy is reciting the ABC's! Grammy likes to sing the ABC's to Josh (albeit out of tune!) and all of a sudden last week while we were at the mall I heard him reciting them! Now he does it all the time and usually gets as far as G!

My baby got his first pair of big boy shoes (and sneakers too) yesterday! He was so cute sitting on my lap watching the lady measure his feet and putting the shoes on him. After the lady put his shoes on I tried to get him to walk but he had other ideas and crawled across the store to flirt with a little girl!

Last night I was trying to fold laundry and Josh climbed in the laundry basket and Bailey was making her bed in the folded clothes on the carpet.... so I proclaimed to Barry who was upstairs..........."They are driving me crazy!" so what does my clueless DH do?????? Josh spent a fun day yesterday with Grammy and Poppi complete with pancakes and syrup at the Pancake House, playing the piano and a visit from his cousins when Mommy had a wonderful idea to go out for a Valentine's Sushi dinner. It is a good thing that Josh is a wonderful baby because it took 1/2 an hour before anyone even came over to our table to even take our drink order (after I asked someone twice to send our server over) and another hour before we got served!!! Josh took it all in stride laughing, playing, eating his cheese puffs and flirting with the ladies at the tables near us.

This is what I waited my whole life for!

After a quiet weekend at home with Barry and Josh in which we (well Josh and I) didn't get dressed all weekend and stayed home, I am reminded how much I don't like Mondays! Oh how I wish I could be a SAHM!!!!!!!!

Josh's babysitter, Tammi, is on vacation this week so he is at her friend Linda's house today and tomm. I know he is in good hands but I have this sense of uneasiness today.... probably because he could have cared less when I dropped him off at Linda's house and was too interested in their fish tank to even say goodbye to me!

1. I only have black and white socks in my sock drawer.

2. I love when my dog Bailey instinctively licks away my tears when I am crying.

3. I used to live with a guy named Josh (but Barry picked DS's name).

4. A few weeks ago a woman came up to us in the mall to comment on how beautiful Josh is and it turned out that she was my ex-boyfriends wife (he was trailing behind her).

5. My favorite movies are Gidget Movies.

6. I have passed out from laughing too hard.

Aunt Jill came to visit this past weekend from Florida to meet her new nephews Jonah & Noah and to see Joshua. We had a nice weekend together spent with family and friends... and no visit with Aunt Jill is complete without going out for Sushi!

Our visits with Aunt Jill are always too short and we look forward to visiting her in Florida at the beginning of April.

Yesterday, Josh and I were playing in the family room and he was out of site for a minute. I went to look for him and he was upstairs in the living room! Thinking that Barry was playing one of his practical jokes on me I called out to him " Barry, where are you?" much to my surprise he was upstairs in his office. Josh had crawled up the stairs!!!!!

Was Josh ever this little??? I know he is only 9 months old now but I don't remember him being this little. Maybe it was the shock of being a new mother with only a day and a half notice or that I really love the stage he is at now, I don't know. But time sure has flown since he has been in our lives.

The twins are doing great and they are the only set of twins born at the hospital within the last several days that are Not in the NICU from what we have heard. Heather and the babies will be going home either tomm. night or Monday.

Heather and David's twins arrived last night at about 8 p.m. Baby A is Jonah Harrison, named after my maternal Grandfather Joseph and paternal Grandfather Harry. He weighed 6 lbs 4 oz. and Baby B is Noah Samuel who is named after Heather's Great Aunt Nancy and Great Grandfather Sam. He weighed 5 lbs 14 oz.

Shadow is a bully and always picks on Cleo, Blacky and her brother Spots. Well Last night she got a taste of her own medicine! Josh chased Shadow around the family room for about an hour. Shadow was beside herself and didn't know where to go to get away from him until she jumped on her cat tree..... little does she know that pretty soon Josh will be climbing the cat tree to get her!

I can remember our first concert like it was yesterday (okay..... I don't really remember if it was the Baycity Rollers or The Defranco Family or maybe it was Big Wheelie at the Boulevard Mall.... Sorry Barry to bring that name up) but I remember vividly Dad taking us to see the Baycity Rollers. Mom bought Jill, David and I striped shirts and socks like the band wore and we wore our pants rolled up just like the band did.

Sesame Street Live "Elmo makes Music" is coming to town soon, so Grammy and I are taking Josh to his first concert! I know at his age it won't be a lasting memory but I am sure that he will have fun!

Getting on the Blog bandwagon

I think that I am about the last one of my "Adoption Star Friends" as I affectionately call them to get on the blogging bandwagon. Although I talk to Jill and Mom everyday (okay, many times every day) I do not keep in close touch with many other important people in my life who may want to hear about the daily antics of our wonderful son Joshua.

Josh is now 9 months and 1 week old. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone and honestly can't remember life before Josh. At his Doctors appointment last week he weighed in at 19.2 lbs (with his clothes on since it was not a well visit). He is standing up and easily gets from sitting to standing and back to crawling. He is walking with his 2 little walkers that Aunt Jill and Uncle Pat and Great Uncle Lowell and Aunt Sharon bought him and is contantly on the move. He loves to annoy Bailey and is getting into everything already.
